Organize with To-Do List Software
Busy minds often lead to plentiful mistakes.
Apart from to-do-list software, the only answer is an incredible
memory or an encyclopaedia of post it notes. Neither of the latter
is infallible, the mind wanders almost as much as post it notes.
Everyone has to do lists, whether they are static written lists
on pieces of paper stuck to the fridge with a magnet or whether
they are knocking around inside their brain but one thing is
for sure if you lead anything remotely resembling a busy life
then neither of these techniques is viable.
So, how about trying out your PC instead? It does just about
everything else for you. It's done away with the need for address
and phone number post it notes, and it's even done away with
reminder post it notes but to-do-list software is something which
hasn't always been that successful in the past. The biggest downfall
is that a person's priorities can change on a very regular basis
and working through the first item on your to-do-list tends to
lead to another handful of things to do.
Even if your daily tasks involve nothing more than general house
maintenance things happen which mean you need to change your
routine and therefore your to-do-list. If you have to balance
home, work and family along with perhaps keeping fit then you
have virtually no chance of getting it right.
Well, there is to-do-list software available for you to use regardless
of the complexity of your needs. The simple ones let you write
a short list and check them off as you are done; the complex
ones give you a little more functionality. You can even get software
which sticks electronic post it notes on your desktop that flash
up at a designated time but there's also a new, entirely different
breed.
One in particular springs to mind, Life Balance, which lets you
define the different areas of your life that need organizing
so you can include work, home, family and anything else you have
to do. Then you can set your tasks and dictate how often you
need to perform these tasks. Sequential subtasks mean only the
top-level most important task is displayed and once this is complete,
the subtask then becomes visible. Future tasks are displayed
in the effective calendar and you can set the location for each
task.
This may all sound like a lot of effort just to keep a list of
jobs, but if you lead a hectic life like most of us in the modern
world do then this new breed of to-do-list software is likely
to be a real compliment to your lifestyle. You will never have
an excuse for missing an appointment, you will never forget to
pick the kids up from school and you will never be in the doghouse
for forgetting to buy an anniversary present. To-do-list software
gives an unstructured and unmanageable life the much need structure
it craves so you can concentrate on completing the tasks and
not worrying about what it is you need to next, or worse, what
you forgot to do last.
